A Suggested Path Through Your Trial

The Business Central trial lasts 30 days. Here is a gentle guide to help you make the most of that time, but feel free to explore in whatever order suits you.

Week 1: Navigate and Understand

Take your time exploring the role centre, navigating between modules and understanding the menu structure. We suggest running through a basic purchase-to-payment and order-to-cash cycle using the sample company data to get a feel for the platform.

Week 2: Industry-Specific Features

This is where it starts to get interesting. Focus on the features that matter for your sector. If you are in manufacturing, explore production orders and BOMs. Distribution? Look at warehouse management. Professional services? Try the Projects module. We can help you identify which areas are most relevant.

Week 3: Test Your Scenarios

Try replicating a real business scenario from your company. Create a customer, enter an order, process it through to invoice. This is where you start to see how the platform would handle your day-to-day operations, and we are happy to walk through this with you.

Week 4: Reflect and Ask Questions

By now you will have a good sense of whether Business Central feels right for your business. If you would like to talk through what you have found, ask remaining questions or simply get a second opinion, we are here for that conversation whenever you are ready.

Features Worth Exploring for Your Sector

In the trial, navigate to Manufacturing > Production Orders. The sample company (Cronus) includes production BOMs and routings. Create a released production order for an item that has a production BOM. Observe how materials are automatically calculated and capacity is reserved. Note: the trial uses the Premium edition by default, so all manufacturing features are available.

Navigate to Warehouse > Warehouse Receipts and Warehouse Shipments. Try processing a purchase order through warehouse receipt and put-away. Then create a sales order and process it through pick and shipment. This demonstrates the end-to-end warehouse workflow that is critical for distribution operations.

Navigate to Projects > Projects and explore the sample project structures. Create a new project with task lines, assign a budget and then post time and expenses against it. Run the WIP calculation to see how Business Central handles Work in Progress recognition. This is the core workflow for professional services firms.
